Differential Pressure Sensors

Differential Pressure Sensors measure the difference in pressure at two points and offers a comparative measurement between the two. Sometimes it is not essential to know the absolute pressure of a liquid or a gas. Rather, only the difference in pressure between the two points being monitored need to be known and this is where Differential pressure sensors play a crucial role.

Differential pressure sensors work by applying the two pressures that need to be measured to the opposite sides of a thin diaphragm. The positive or negative deflection in the diaphragm as compared to its rest state gives you the pressure difference.

These sensors are carefully designed with capacitive sensing technology by which the flexing of the diaphragm causes a change in the capacitance leading to a change in the sensor output. This technology allows capacitive pressure sensors to report in near real-time with extraordinary accuracy. Differential pressure sensors are used widely in filter monitoring, flow measurement etc.
