Wind Sensors (Speed & Direction)
As the name suggests, Wind Speed and Direction Sensors measure both wind speed and the direction of wind. They are usually installed vertically above the ground at the highest possible point. The location of the sensor is extremely important as it affects the accuracy of the wind measurement data.
In case of a wind speed sensor, the wind generated by the airflow drives the top three wind cups to rotate. The central axis drives the internal sensing element to generate an output signal, which can be used to calculate the wind speed. As for the wind direction sensor, it works through the rotation of a wind vane arrow and transmits its measurement information to the coaxial encoder board, and at the same time outputs the relevant value of the wind direction.
